Situated at the base of the skull and physiologically related to the Pharyngeal Plexus,
the throat Chakra is concerned with expression, voicing thoughts, feelings, emotions,
poems, invocations, rituals, speeches, and prophecies. This is where we express ourselves
or where expression gets blocked. This Chakra relates to how we communicate verbally with
others, through speech or song.
Chinese healers pay particular attention to the voice and relate it to their five
element system. The groaning voice which is associated with Water and fear, the
weeping voice to Metal, grief and suffering, the singing voice which is Earth and
sympathy and empathy, the shouting voice which is Wood and anger and frustration, and the
laughing voice which is Fire and joy and happiness.
Besides our appearance our voices are what are most remembered by others. The voice
evokes an image which is often more true, than the way we look or our body language at the
time due to us hiding our true feelings so as not to make eye contact. The voice has
tremendous power, to heal, to hurt, to invoke images in others for good or bad. We can all
be seduced by a rich deep voice and repelled by a whining one. Our voices also express
power, mythology claims that the stone megaliths of Stonehenge were raised by chanting
alone. As witches we raise the cone of power in circle through chant and dance.
The throat Chakra is related to the colour blue and light blue is used for this Chakra.
Meditation
Relax and sit comfortably, bending your head slightly, take a few deep breaths and
breathe out any tension from your body. Turn your attention towards the area just below
your skull at the back of the neck, relax the muscles there and breathe into them. Be
aware of a centre of energy, a depression, a pool, a whirling vortex, slip in and see what
you find there, look for a flower like structure. When you have found it, see what kind of
condition it is in, ask it if it needs anything, the answer will come to you as you wait.
Now flood the area with iridescent blue, the most beautiful of the blue shades, stay with
this for a while, then slowly come back into the room and write down your impressions and
feelings.
